For the first time he entered the international athletic field at the Olympic Games in London in 1948, where he won the 10 km run. At the1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki he won the gold medal in the 5 km, 10 km and marathon. Emil Zatopek won 7 golden, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals over the period of 6 years. Emil Zatopek from Czechoslovakia was an important person, for his running style he was nicknamed "Czechlocomotive" and also "Emil the Terrible."
