"Zlin zoo was established by Tomas Bata on 1st may 1930. At first it was in a park near the Zlin Castle and in 1934 it was moved to the top of the Tlusta Hora, where it was until the middle of the second world war.
After the second world war was the zoo nationalized and in 1948 opened for public. During 70s - 80s was meaningly extended number of species, by then the emu was the most attractive. Attractive rhinos, polar bears and chimpanzees found a new home for visitors in the zoo. From the early 90s, construction of (*) modern zoo began: the chateau park was rebuilt, new utilities were built, premises dedicated to visitors needs were built (restaurant, children(**)s corner, souvenir shop)."
